We are so excited to share what the Lord has been doing in and through these two church communities. The past couple months have been marked by God's faithfulness and we expect to see the Spirit move continually as we become one family.
Join us as we celebrate Christmas Eve together at Balboa Community Church! At Balboa Community Church
Balboa Community Church has been marked by many faithful servants and stewards of God's blessing. We want to celebrate and honor what God has done here in the past and present while also looking to our new future. This will be Balboa's final service as they will be moving to join Communion at Marston Middle School so that renovations can begin on the facility.
This will be our first Sunday together as a new community! We will be joining together with great excitement and anticipation for our final move into our new home. Marston will be the place where we begin to be a community, but we wait patiently to move back home as a new family. At Marston Middle School
We can't wait for this day! We can already begin to dream and imagine what it will be like to move in as a family once and for all. Our move back into the renovated facility will be dependent on how long construction takes, but we hope to move in before Easter of 2020. We will have to be flexible and we will know more once construction begins.
Pastor Lance will be the lead pastor moving forward and will be responsible for leading the direction of the church into our future by listening to the Lord. This will include guiding the staff members, transition team, and governing board once it is assembled. Pastor Dave will be moving to a supportive role and focusing on the organizational structure of the church, overseeing the serve teams, and caring for our members. He will be an integral part of the team as we strive to bring unity in this transition.
Through December and January the transition team be working on integrating both churches together. Balboa will have their final service and celebration on December 29th. The following Sunday, both churches will have their first gathering together on January 5th to mark the new year. The transition team will also be planning joint events and prayer gatherings to help us build connections and community. Updates will be made to the timeline above.
God has gifted each one of us with skills and qualifications in something. In this season, you are invited to leverage your gifts and skills to benefit our community. What are you good at doing? (accounting, creative arts, construction, planning, etc...) Whether your contributions are large or small, how can these skills be used to benefit the kingdom as we move forward? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with ways you feel called to participate.
In our exploration over the past few months we have seen God make clear and remarkable connections between each church. The major motivation for this transition is that we believe we will be better equipped to reach San Diego and make greater kingdom impact together. The Lord has brought these two churches together to flourish and to launch us into the city to partner with the Spirit in bringing restoration. This decision also provides a natural transition for Pastor Dave as he moves toward retirement. Communion Church, led by Pastor Lance, has young and robust leadership with a vision for city renewal. With Balboa's multi-cultural and multi-generational community our expression of worship as a church will gain depth and beauty. Partnering together for the future will bring a holistic approach as we gain both new leadership and a facility to call home.
We would like to develop a teaching team in the future and develop some more leaders in this area. Pastor Lance will be the primary preacher on Sundays and Pastor Dave will be in a normal rotation.
We affirm the Christian and Missionary Alliance doctrinal statements.
